Gynaekomastia is a significant problem of men, and especially of younger teenagers and obese patients. The problem comprises in the increase in size of the man’s breast, having a separate cause for each patient group. The cause for the teenagers is mainly the benign expansion of the massive gland, and for the older and obese patients is the concentration of adipose tissue. The surgical treatment is different in these cases. In the cases of the massive gland expansion, the hypodermatic mastectomy is necessary. The gynaekomasty operations are simple and do not last over an hour. The patient is under general anaesthesia, but get out of the hospital the same day, two or three hours after the operation. He will bear an elastic bandage round his chest for 20 days after the operation. The post-operational pain is mild and do not need to be treated with mild painkillers. The patient can return to his job the next day. Training is not forbidden, but usually most patients continue their training program 2-3 weeks later. There are always bruises on the operated area that leave completely after 20 days.

According to the whole and total treatment of obese patients with the surgical treatment of obesity, the simultaneous treatment of gynaekomastia with liposuction is preferable, as it offers better results and smaller relaxation after the weight loss.
